Vietnam Estimated to Import US$2.127B Iron & Steel in H1
Vietnam was estimated to have imported 4.016 million tons of iron and steel worth US$2.127 billion in the first half of this year, down 34.2 per cent in volume and 54.7 per cent in value on-year, the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said on June 25.
Of the sum, the country spent US$438 million to buy 1.092 million tons of steel ingots during the time, down 39.3 per cent on-year in volume and 65 per cent in value.
In June, Vietnam was projected to import 900,000 tons worth of iron and steel worth US$442 million, down 3.64 per cent in volume and 4.741 per cent in value on-month. (GSO June 2009)
