On July 13, InterContinental Asiana Saigon announced that 452 out of 553 employees (more than 80 percent), of which approximately 430 are Vietnamese, have been recruited up to now before its coming into operational phase in early September.

InterContinental Asiana Saigon is committed to support our employees in their roles, to provide them opportunities to develop themselves and to pursue a rewarding career with IHG. Therefore, an intensive training program including Customer Care, IHG Leadership Competencies, Managing Performance and Development is being conducted from July to August. The hotel’s objective is to make sure that all employees are fully skilled in the jobs that they do, as well as bringing to life IHG Leadership competencies and values.

According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam has a current workforce of approximately 45 million people and each year, more than 1 million people join this workforce, putting much pressure on its government in making enough jobs for its people. It is forecast the global economic slowdown will cause job losses in Vietnam in 2009 up to five times higher than those in 2008. Therefore, the opening of the city's newest luxury hotel provides a remarkable boost to the labour market and tourism economy.
