Vietnam Forecast to Import 2M Tons of Clinker This Year
Vietnam is projected to buy about two million tons of clinker to produce 44 million tons of cement this year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Executives Publication on Industry and Trade said.
The country reportedly bought around one million tons of clinker from other countries in the first half of this year.
Cement companies in Vietnam sold 21.5 million tons of cement in the first half this year, an on-year rise of 7.1 per cent, said Vu Van Hiep, vice general director of the Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem).
In June, the country’s total cement consumption was estimated at 3.8 million tons, up 9 per cent against the same period last year, added Hiep.
Vietnam is estimated to use between 44 million and 45 million tons of cement this year, while the cement sector’s total designed capacity will reach 50 million and its mobilized capacity will be between 45 million and 46 million tons. (MoIT)
