Vietnam-China H1 Trade Down 18.4% to US$8.5B

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and China in the first half of this year fell by 18.4% on-year to US$8.5 billion, said the Chinese Customs Office.
 
Vietnam exported over US$2.1 billion worth of goods to China during the period, up 3% on-year and imported US$6.4 billion in goods from its neighbor, down 23.7% on-year.
 
As a result, the country ran a trade deficit of US$4.3 billion during the first half, down 32.8% against the same period last year.
 
Trade between Vietnam and China is expected to increase by 6.9% to US$21.5 billion this year.
 
Vietnam is projected to reap US$5 billion from exporting goods to China in 2009, up 10.229% on-year and to import US$16.5 billion in goods from its neighbor, up 6.04%. (CafeF)
