5.6M Tons of Rice Contracted for Exports: Vietnam Food Assoc.
Vietnamese companies have so far this year signed contracts to export 5.6 million tons of rice, up 66.6% against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA).
Of the figure, nearly 4.49 million tons worth over US$2 billion, CIF, had been delivered by August 31, up 41.9% in volume and 6.2% in value on-year, the association said.
Export price of Vietnamese rice was US$408.6 per ton on average during the period.
Analysts believe that domestic enterprises can ship six million tons of rice abroad this year thanks to bumper crops.
Vietnam, the world’s second largest rice exporter after Thailand, exported 4.6 million tons of rice valued at US$2.9 billion in 2008. (Labor)
