Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, head of the State Steering Committee for Key Projects, has instructed the Ministry of Planning and Investment to add the elevated railway linking Hoa Hung (Ho Chi Minh City) with Trang Bom (Dong Nai province) to the list of Japan’s ODA-funded projects in the fiscal year 2009-2010.

The Vietnam Railway Corp is assigned to contract with Japanese competent organs and consultants to supplement and complete feasibility studies on this rail-link within the year.

Several years ago, Transport Engineering Design Joint Stock Incorporated South (TEDI South) coordinated with Japanese consultants to make feasibility reports on the Trang Bom - Hoa Hung railway.

This project is estimated to cost US$550 million. On completion, this rail will carry passengers from HCM City to south-eastern provinces. In the future, this railway will link with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway.
