Vietnam’s Phone Subscriptions up 70.5% to 113.7M at Aug-end

Vietnam is estimated to have 113.7 million phone subscribers as of the end of August, a jump of 70.5% against the same period in 2008, according to the figure from the General Statistics Office.
 
Phone companies signed up 32.4 million new phone subscribers in August, up 118.4% from last August.
 
As of the end of August, the number of broadband internet subscribers nationwide is estimated to have raised 47% on-year to 2.7 million.
 
The country’s post and telecommunication industry is estimated to have made net revenue of VND53.8 trillion (US$3.02 billion) in the first eight months of this year, up 25.8% against the same period in 2008.
 
Currently, MobiFone, Vinaphone and Viettel are the largest mobile phone service providers, holding more than 90% of the local market share, while VNPT and FPT take the lead in providing internet services. (Capital’s Security)
