Deputy PM Urges Quickening Phu Quoc Airport Construction
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai urged speeding up the construction of Phu Quoc International Airport project in the southern province of Kien.
Hai recently toured the province and asked the Southern Airports Corporation, the investor, to speed up the project’s implementation to ensure to put the airport into operation before the second quarter of 2012.
The corporation started the project last November.
Under the prime minister’s approval, the 900-hectare Phu Quoc International Airport has a total investment capital of VND16 trillion (US$8.977 billion), including VND8 trillion to be allocated by 2020.
The airport is located on Vietnam’s biggest island which has to date attracted over 25 projects valued at some VND9.9 trillion, mostly focusing on tourism and services sectors. (Labor)
