Sixteen international airlines signed deals with the central city of Hue’s authorities to open more air routes to the city at a conference held on August 23.

The conference, jointly held by local authorities and the Central Vietnam Airlines Corporation, aimed to boost Hue’s tourism promotion and attract international airlines.

The meeting was attended by 27 airlines and 20 travel agents from various countries, with the majority from Southeast and North Asia.

At the signing ceremony, the Provincial People’s Committee Chairman, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, said that the city would offer incentives for airlines, including financial support, to operate flights to and from the city.

The Central Region Airport Corporation pledged to give price subsidies to airlines using the services of the Phu Bai airport.

Hue is now the home of Phu Bai Airport, which has a total investment of VND17.25 trillion and is expected to become an international airport by 2020.

The city is Vietnam’s former Imperial Capital and also a World Heritage Site recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). (Youth, Pioneer)
