All Weak Bridges on National Roads to Be Replaced by 2020

Vietnam will build 20 expressways stretching on over 2,300 kilometres and replace all weak bridges on national roads by 2020. These targets are mentioned in the master plan on road traffic development in 2020 and vision toward 2030 recently ratified by the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
 
According to the master plan, by 2020, 5.5 billion passengers and 760 million tonnes of goods will have been transported. Around 2.8-3 million automobiles are supposed to run in the system.
 
By 2020, 20 expressways will be built. Particularly, 24 sections of expressways of 2,381 kilometres in total length will be constructed and put into operation by 2020, all weak bridges will be replaced, all provincial roads will be asphalted and cemented, all communes will have automobile-supporting roads.
 
Traffic system will account 16- 26 per cent of land fund used for urban infrastructure construction in cities. In Hanoi City, modern roads with 4-6 lanes to reach the downtown and belt roads with 6-8 lanes will be built. Buses will transport 25 per cent of passengers by 2020.
