German Fuhrlaender Gets License to Build Wind-Powered Turbine Plant in VN
Phong Dien Fuhrlaender Vietnam Joint Stock Company of Germany has just received the license to build a US$25-million wind-powered turbine plant in the central province of Binh Thuan, the first of its kind in Vietnam, according to Chairman of the company’s board of directors, Tran Viet Tuan.
The plant will be built on a site of 23 hectares of land in Tuy Phong district, said Tuan, adding that it will have 48 turbines with a production capacity of 1.5 MW each in the first phase.
The company will add 48 turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each in the second phase, Tuan said.
The plant’s products will serve domestic markets and will be for exports, he added.
To attract more investors for wind energy projects in Vietnam, the government should make incentives and form power price tables for wind-powered plants as soon as possible, Tuan urged.
Fuhrlaender has also installed its first five wind-powered turbines with a capacity of 7.5 MW each at Vietnam’s wind-powered project in Binh Thuan province, and the plant has recently started operation.
The World Bank (WB) plans to lend a combined US$202 million to renewable energy development project (REDP) in Vietnam in the 2009-2014 period. (Investment)
