Vietnam-Switzerland Trade Rises 32.6% to US$2.59B in H1

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Switzerland reportedly reached US$2.598 billion in the first half of this year, up 32.6% from a year earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
 
Vietnam exported US$2.366 billion worth of goods to Switzerland during the time, up 10 times on-year and imported US$231.805 million, down 87% on-year.
 
During the first half, the country reported a trade surplus of US$2.134 billion with Switzerland, said the ministry.
 
Among Vietnam’s export staples to Switzerland, gemstones and precious metals topped the list with US$2.279 billion, making up 96.2% of the country’s total export value to the European country.
 
It was followed by coffee with US$24.656 million, seafood with US$18.933 million, footwear with US$9.93 million and garments and textiles with US$4.037 million.
 
During the time, Vietnam’s key imports from Switzerland included machine, equipment and spare parts with US$47.079 million, pharmaceutical products with US$22.308 million, insecticide and materials with US$18.887 million and computers, electronics and spare parts with US$6.496 million. (Vinanet)
