Vietnam Streamlining Customs Procedures to Boost Trade at Int’l Ports
The Vietnam General Department of Customs has urged its subordinates to streamline customs procedures for imports and exports at international ports, according to the department’s Instruction No. 1819.
The department also asked provincial and municipal customs offices to cooperate with port services providers to facilitate customs clearance in line with the international standards.
In mid-August, the Prime Minister gave the green light to expansion of a pilot e-customs declaration program in 10 localities beginning October 1 and running through the end of 2011.
The e-customs program, which is designed to standardize procedures nationwide and shorten the time it takes to clear customs, is part of a larger e-commerce project undertaken by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. (New Hanoi)
