Vietnam and China are trying to raise bilateral trade to US$25 billion in 2010 from the expected value of US$21.5 billion this year.

The information was released during the on-going visit of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade’s delegation to China led by Minister Vu Huy Hoang between Oct 11-14.

The four-day working visit is aimed to implement agreements inked at the first meeting of the Vietnam-China trade cooperation working group under the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee in Hanoi last month.

It also focuses on discussing measures to remove trade barriers in order to realize the two-way trade target of US$25 billion in 2010 set by the two countries’ leaders.

During the visit, the delegation worked with some Chinese firms that have invested in electricity, construction, metallurgy and paper projects in Vietnam.

The bilateral trade is expected to increase by 6.9% to US$21.5 billion this year, including Vietnam’s exports and imports of US$5 billion and US$16.5 billion, up 10.23% and 6.04% on-year. (VNA)
