United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Susan Schwab will visit Vietnam from Nov 30 to Dec 3, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Link World Unlimited International Event Company and Hanoi National University said at a press briefing in Hanoi on Oct. 12.

During her five-day trip, Suan Shwab will work with the Vietnamese government, Hanoi National University and major economic groups and chair two international seminars discussing measures to help Vietnamese firms to boost exports to the U.S. market.

The ambassador’s coming presentation in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is expected to help Vietnamese businesses further understand the U.S.’s strategies on investment and trade with Vietnam and facilitate them to expand operations in the U.S. and foreign markets.

The U.S. is now Vietnam’s largest importer while the ASEAN country was listed among 30 biggest exporters to the U.S. in 2007, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) said.

Vietnam is forecast to fetch between US$12.6 billion and US$13 billion from goods exports to the U.S. this year, up from US$12 billion last year. Of which, apparel export value will be US$5.5 billion and that of wood furniture and footwear at US$1.4 billion each. (Local sources)
