Vietnam May Spend US$39.3M to Clear Sites for 1st Nuclear Power Plants
Vietnam may spend VND700 billion (US$39.3 million) to clear sites for the two first nuclear power plants in the central province of Ninh Thuan.
Of the sum, VND244 billion (US$13.7 million) will be allocated to the 4,000-MW Ninh Thuan 1 plant in Phuoc Dinh commune and the remaining VND456 billion (US$25.6 million) to the 4,000-MW Ninh Thuan 2 plant in Vinh Hai commune.
The state-run Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) will start building the Ninh Thuan 1 plant in 2014 with an expected completion in 2020.
Nuclear energy is forecast to account for between 7% and 9% of Vietnam’s total electricity capacity by 2030. (New Hanoi)
