Lotte-Sea Logistics Easing Increasing Demand of Cold Storage In Vietnam
The high demand for storing imported food products and keeping export products (especially seafood) for shipment has kept cold storages in HCM City and neighboring provinces full to the brim. Vietnam is one of the world’s biggest seafood exporters and the country is now hoping to consolidate and develop further. The South of Vietnam is considered as the centre of the processing industry, but the place to keep product after production is still a thorny issue for farmers and enterprises.
In the first visit to Vietnam in 2007, Mr. Pyo Kyung Young (now General Director of Lotte Sea Logistics) recognized the growing demand of cold storage in Vietnam. “Most of the losses I saw in Vietnam are the results of direct spoilage due to the lack of cold warehousing”, shared Pyo. Recognizing the potential of cold storage, Lotte Sea Logistics decided to invest in a storage facility in Vietnam.
Located at Long Hau Industrial Zone in Long An province, next to Hiep Phuoc Port, Lotte Sea Logistics highly equipped cold storage which has the capacity of 23,000 pallets for cold storage and 2000 pallets for dry warehouse, is one of the most modern storages in the south. Mr. Pyo Kyung Young said that the storage will soon meet the growing demand of cold warehousing in Vietnam, and with convenient location at Long Hau Industrial Zone, Lotte Sea Logistics will help gather seafood and agricultural products for distributing to Ho Chi Minh City and also for exporting overseas.
“In Vietnam, fish farmers especially those in the Mekong Delta area, suffer considerable losses due to waste and spoiling of their products before it goes to market. So infrastructure facilities for warehousing and storing products are crucial to maintain value. We at Lotte Sea Logistics see a fast growing demand in Vietnam. We not only support farmers but also help enterprises in the aquacultural sector to keep the value of their products”, revealed Pyo.
With an ideal location, 3 km from Hiep Phuoc Port, 15km from Saigon Port and 20 km from HCMC, Lotte Sea Logistics is promising to greatly contribute to the economic and social development of Vietnam, serving many industries especially the seafood sector which is currently a key exporting product of the country. According to Pyo, Lotte Sea Logistics is considering another place for building some cold storages around Vietnam.
