Swiss ABB to Deliver First Equipment for Vietnam Power Plant End-Jan
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group of Switzerland, will deliver the first equipment for the 1,200-MW Vung Ang 1 coal-fired power plant in the central province of Ha Tinh later this month.
The equipment will be delivered via Vung Ang port.
The move is expected to facilitate Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama)’s plan to install the first tons of equipment for the plant in May.
The plant, which will be built on a 213.65-hectare area in Ky Loi commune of Ky Anh district, will have a total investment of $1.58 billion with Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) contributing 30% of the investment and banks loaning the remaining.
PetroVietnam will use 2.9 million tons of coal dust annually sourced from the northern province of Quang Ninh to feed the plant.
The two-turbine plant is expected to generate 8 billion kWh of electricity per annum once its turbine 1 come into operation in July, 2012 and turbine 2 in January 2013. (People’s Army)
