South Korean Trade Minister to Visit Vietnam to Discuss FTA
South Korean Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon will visit Vietnam from Mar 21-24 to discuss the establishment of collaboration teams for a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA).
During the meeting, Kim Jong-hoon will work with Vietnamese counterpart Vu Huy Hoang on the issue, aiming to accelerate the bilateral trade ties, the Maeil Business Newspaper quoted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT).
The launching of the South Korea-Vietnam Joint Committee for Commercial Cooperation on Feb. 24 is expected to help to improve the bilateral trade balance and boost their trade to $20 billion in 2015, doubling the figure of 2009.
In early March, Vietnam and the European Union (EU) agreed to start negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) following a meeting between Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht in Hanoi.
