Vietnam-Germany Economic Conference to Take Place in April
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder will visit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s southern economic hub, from April 20-22 and chair an economic conference of the two countries.
The conference, slated on April 21, will focus on the two topics of climate change and renewable energy.
Early Mar, the German government has pledged an aid package worth of EUR19 million for Vietnam to cope with climate change and improve the quality of vocational training.
Gerhard Schroder’s upcoming trip is also part of the German Year in Vietnam program to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Trade between Vietnam and Germany is forecast to reach US$5 billion-US$5.1 billion this year, up 9%-11% from the estimated figure of US$4.6 billion in 2009. (Young People)
