Currently, Krong Buk Company has 2,619 ha of rubber and a rubber processing plant with 6,000 tonnes per year capacity, 900 ha of Arabica and a wet technology coffee processing plant with 2,000 tonnes/year capacity and a cow herd of 555. It is an outstanding business of the Central Highland region and a pioneer in economic restructuring and the diversification of plants and domestic animals.

Thanks to technology transfer of the Central Highlands Agro-Forestry Scientific and Technical Institute on varieties and cultivation techniques of Arabica, Krong Buk Rubber Company has turned around 900 ha of coffee into a material area for its coffee processing units. At an altitude of between 800 and 1,000 metres, the climate is suitable for growing Arabica, which is of good quality and attracts both local and foreign customers.

Along with expanding the material area and human resources, the company has invested in improving its modern wet technology for coffee processing. In early 2004, Krong Buk Rubber Company launched VICA coffee processed for Arabica coffee. Despite facing fierce competition from other strong trademarks, VICA has gained fame nationwide.

The project to grow Catimor (Arabica) and raise beef in Dlie Ya Forest of the company was started in 1999, a new opportunity for local people. To date, cadres and workers have turned wild forests into a well-off countryside region. Up to 793 ha out of a total 898-ha area of Arabica produce some 1,500 tonnes of beans this year. Accordingly, a wet technology coffee processing plant with annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes was put into operation.

Besides, 555 LaiSind cows are raised under the best conditions to expand this farming model throughout the whole region. This is a way for the company to develop the potential of Dlie Ya hill region. Over nine years, the company’s Dlie Ya project has made considerable contribution to the region’s socio-economic development.

In addition to sustainable economic development, the company has actively participated in social security programmes which aim to help the poor and those affected by natural disasters and Agent Orange. In 2006, the company spent VND2.08 billion for the programmes. The figure was raised to VMD3.62 billion in 2007, VND3.2 billion in 2008 and over VND5 billion in 2009. It has also joined the government’s social security programmes by building 10 houses worth VND200 million for the poor. It links economic development with national security and defence.

With these achievements, the company was granted the Labour Medal Grade 3 and many certificates of merit from government agencies and the Vietnam Rubber Group.
