The Government chief gave a nod to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to host activities marking the Foundation Day of ASEAN and the 15th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to the bloc.

The MoFA was assigned to chair and work with relevant ministries, agencies and the People’s Committee of Hanoi to organize the events.

Founded in August 8, 1967, ASEAN is a geo-political and economic organization of 10 countries located in Southeast Asia. Vietnam joined ASEAN on July 28, 1995 and became the seventh member state of the bloc.

Since then, the country has taken active steps to deeply integrate into the Association in all cooperation domains and contributed to maintaining intra-regional solidarity and linkages.

As the Chair of ASEAN in 2010, Vietnam has successfully organized big events and spared no effort to fulfill its missions.
