In 2005, with attractive incentives of the Nam Dinh province, Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company has decided to invest a pharmaceutical factory in Hoa Xa Industrial Park, Nam Dinh City - the provincial capital.
In 2006, the company obtained the GMP-WHO standards, becoming the first pharmaceutical company in northern Vietnam to win the GMP standards subjected by the World Health Organization (WHO). Currently, Nam Duoc is the first pharmaceutical producer in Vietnam to integrate the IMS Health standards. In addition to the WHO - GMP standard, Nam Duoc also achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14000, HACCP, SA 8000 and TQM standards which ensure that all Nam Duoc products have high quality and close check.
Modern production facilities
The drug factory was built on an area of 1 hectare, becoming a big project of the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry. The design of the factory is carried out on the basis of EU and WHO construction and hygiene standards to ensure the satisfaction of industrial hygiene and produce high quality products. The plant consists of three production lines: pill, syrup and traditional medicine. The factory is equipped with modern technology and machinery and is applied international standards.
One year after the construction in July 2005, the company inaugurated the plant. It took a short time for the facility to attain the Pharmaceutical Administration - Ministry of Health issued a certificate of GMP-WHO (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards, GSP (Good Storage Practice) standards from the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV) under the Ministry of Health.
At present, Nam Duoc has been certified the IMS (Integrated Management System) standard by the UK-based NQA Organisation and was granted other standard certificates like ISO 9001, ISO 14000, HACCP and SA 8000. The drugmaker also coordinates with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to build and perfect the total quality management (TQM) system. This is an important factor to strengthen the Nam Duoc brand on the domestic pharmaceutical market and prepare for the global presence.
Herbal quintessence development
In 2008, Nam Duoc focused on manufacturing medicines from Vietnamese-originated herbs. The company participated in scientific researches on Vietnamese medicinal herbs like using Gymnema sylvestre to produce Diabetna drugs to treat diabetes, Phyllanthus urinaria L. to produce Hamega drugs to detoxify livers, Schizonepeta tenuifolia to produce Ich Nhi syrup to treat cough of children, etc.
To take the initiative in material supply, the company has joined hands with the local government and people to build medicinal herb zones. Presently, the firm has successfully built several material zones like Polyscias fruticosa and Gymnema sylvestre in Hai Hau district (Nam Dinh province), Phyllanthus urinaria L. (Phu Yen) and Schizonepeta tenuifolia (Hung Yen) while it is developing new ones in Thai Nguyen and Vinh Phuc provinces.
The company also cooperates with specialists and scientists working in leading research institutes and universities to develop new products and new preparations. At the same time, it also collaborates with companies in China where the pharmaceutical industry is very developed to acquire technologies. Currently, it has successfully produced over 70 products.
The company’s products have gradually conquered the domestic market. With its efforts and investments for modern technology, research and collection, Nam Duoc has introduced drugs of absolute safety and high quality. This is the foundation for Nam Duoc to become a Top 10 drugmaker in the country.
