Asia Likely to Remain Vietnam Top Importer in Jan-August

Asia is likely to retain its top position among Vietnam’s importers with import revenues of US$44.521 billion between Jan and Aug, accounting for 48% of the latter’s total eight-month export value, the Ministry of Planning and Investment said.
 
Vietnam’s exports to Asia increased 28% on-year during the period, including a rise of 15% to ASEAN, the ministry was quoted.
 
America and Europe ranked the second and the third with respective ratios of 23% and 22% between Jan and Aug, up 24% and down 4.4%, the MPI noted.
 
The Southeast Asian nation’s shipments to the EU accounted for 15% of its export value, up 7% on-year.
 
Vietnam’s exports have risen 19.7% on-year to US$44.521 billion during the eight-moth period, including US$6 billion in Aug, down 0.48% on-month but up 32.65% on-year.
 
Thirteen export staples of Vietnam, which have reported their values of over US$1 billion each, comprise apparel, crude oil, footwear, seafood, rice, woodwork products, machinery and equipment, computers and spare parts, gemstones and precious metals, coffee, vehicles and components, coal and rubber.
