U.S. DOC Slashes Anti-dumping Duties on Vietnam Shrimp `
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has decided to reduce anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese shrimp exported to the U.S. in its fourth administrative review, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The move came after three Vietnamese seafood exporters, including Minh Phu Seafood Corporation and Nha Trang Seafood JSC, the two compulsory defendants in the anti-dumpint lawsuit, showed DOC’s shortcomings in counting the tariffs.
According to the final results of the fourth administrative review run from Feb 1, 2008-Jan 31, 2009, Vietnamese shrimp exporters will have to pay lower anti-dumping duties compared to the previous results announced last August.
Minh Phu Seafood Corporation will pay the lowest duty of 2.95%, down 0.01% from the previous results.
Nha Trang Seafood JSC will see its tariff decrease to 4.89% from 5.58%.
Anti-dumping duties for 29 companies that are not compulsory defendants and which export shrimp products will be reduced to 3.92% from 4.27%, the association added. (vasep)
