Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the Vietnam Tourism Property Association (VnTPA) and the Vietnam National Real Estate Association (VnREA), Home Expo Vietnam 2010 is set to take place from December 16 to 19, 2010 at Vincom Center, Ho Chi Minh City. In the context of unsellable property projects and freezing markets caused by both internal and external impacts, the exhibition is expected to act as a growth catalyst for the Vietnamese real estate market.
Although Vietnam is a fast-growing property market, the selling of many projects fails to meet expectations, let alone many projects about to be completed and offered for sale. According to the Ministry of Construction, Vietnam has about 2,500 new urban projects, in which Hanoi has more than 800 projects, Ho Chi Minh City has 1,400 projects, Hai Phong has 260 projects and Da Nang has 120 projects. And, this year alone, HCM City has over 11,000 apartments for sale. Also according to a recent report by the Ministry of Construction, by the end of September 2010, the country had an additional 85.2 million square metres of houses, including 46.1 million square metres in urban zones (accounting for 54.11 percent) and 39.1 million square metres in rural areas (45.89 percent). Many housing projects have been kicked off this year but the number of apartments sold is quite modest. Actually, the Vietnamese real estate market is in a state of serenity.
In this context, the Home Expo Vietnam 2010 aims to gather resources to create a strong motive for the property market. On this occasion, 24 advanced property showrooms will be launched at Vincom Center. With many cooperative programmes and opportunities, the exhibition is considered the epicentre of the real estate industry in the final months this year.
Home Expo 2010 with over 200 booths will introduce more than 140 projects to be launched between 2010 and 2012 in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, Hanoi, Da Nang and other localities.
Visitors and buyers will find detailed information about projects and can compare projects in design, infrastructure, utility, location, traffic convenience and support facilities (roads, supermarkets, schools, airports, bus stations, etc.) With this practical support, consumers can make the best choice for their future permanent residences. More importantly, at the Home Expo 2010, consumers can also receive financial advice and home loans from participating banks. Besides, the launch pad for the Home Expo Vietnam 2010 is VnTPO - an international exhibition on real estate investment in Vietnam, an annual forum for the entire Vietnamese real estate industry with over 4,000 developers, investors, specialists and authorities. The VnTPO real estate community, including the Vietnam National Real Estate Association and the Vietnam Tourism Property Association, has jointly put forth the idea of joining efforts to put on the Home Expo. A series of special promotions with attractive benefits like special prices, gifts and prizes will create an exciting atmosphere at the Home Expo and strengthen the excitement of visitors. The Home Expo Vietnam 2010, held at the peak of the year’s shopping season, is expected to attract thousands of visitors each day.
The Home Expo is generally appreciated by the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, domestic and international companies, news agencies and homebuyers. This shows that the hope pinned on the Home Expo is quite high and the responsibility of the organizers is heavy: How to brighten the outlook for the freezing domestic real estate market.

Nguyen Tran Nam - Vice Construction Minister
The Ministry of Construction appreciates the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam National Real Estate Association co-organizing the Home Expo Vietnam 2010 to promote and clear output for the real estate market, thus contributing to the stability and sustainable development of the Vietnamese real estate market.
Mr Marc Townsend - Managing Director of CBRE
We believe that the Home Expo will contribute an important part in changing the market in late 2010 and early 2011. Home Expo visitors will be surprised and fascinated because of the diversity of introduced projects. I expect participating project investors at the Home Expo will compete to attract visitors with their professionalism, attractive promotions and attentiveness to the needs of homebuyers.
Mr Than Thanh Vu, Founder and Chairman VnTPO Forum, Chairman PhuQuocLand Group
In my opinion, it is necessary to gather all real estate companies to jointly create a helping hand to turn up the quiet real estate market. And, the Home Expo is an opportunity to realise this goal.
Mr Huynh Du An, Deputy General Director of Novaland
To date, most of big real estate events are mainly in the form of B2B (business to business). The Home Expo, like its name, is designed for homebuyers and investors. This effort, with good coordination and support from project developers, financial partners, brokers, marketers and consultants, will generate a big market with many options for homebuyers and investors. For us, participating in the Home Expo is an opportunity to assert our name and distinctiveness from others.
