U.S. to Maintain Dumping Duties on Vietnam Shrimp

The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has decided to maintain antidumping duties on certain frozen warm-water shrimp imported from Vietnam.

The department explained that the revocation of the antidumping duty order will likely lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping in the U.S. market.

In the final results of the five-year “sunset” review of the antidumping duty on certain frozen warm-water shrimp from Vietnam, the DOC said that several Vietnamese companies will be imposed the 4.3% and 5.24% rates, while the tariff for the remaining will be 25.76%.

As the result of the department's five affirmative determinations, antidumping duties will remain in place if the U.S. International Trade Commission also affirmatively finds the revocation of the antidumping duty orders is likely to lead to material injury to the domestic shrimp industry by reason of subject imports.

The commission has scheduled a public hearing for its sunset review on Feb. 1 in Washington, D.C.

The commission is tentatively scheduled to vote on whether to continue the antidumping duty orders on March 15. (Youth, Vietfish.org)
