VIA Names Vietnam Internet Day

The Vietnam Internet Association (VIA) picked December 1 as Internet Day in Vietnam.

 

The inaugural Vietnam Internet Day was officially held at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House under the sponsorship of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and SCTV. The festival aimed to provide a clearer view on the Internet in Vietnam in the current context of socioeconomic development.

 

Targeting young people, particularly students, the festival introduced the latest services and applications of telecommunications service providers, interactive programmes and benefits of telecom applications.

 

The Vietnamese Internet industry has developed for over 10 years and an association of internet service providers has been set up. Currently, over 25 million people in Vietnam use the Internet, putting Vietnam in the Top 20 countries in the world in terms of Internet users.
