Vinacomin Signs Equipment Supply Contracts for Quynh Lap 1 Power Project

The investor Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has signed equipment supply contracts for its $2.84-billion Quynh Lap 1 coal-fired power project in the central province of Nghe An.
 
Under the agreements, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction of South Korea, Vietnam Machinery Erection Corp. (Lilama), and the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Narime) will cooperate in designing and manufacturing equipment for the Quynh Lap 1 plant.
 
The 1,200-MW plant, which will be the first of its kind to be used locally made equipment in Vietnam, is part of the 2,400-MW Quynh Lap power center project in Quynh Luu district.
 
The facility is expected to start operation in 2015.
 
Vinacomin is investing in 13 power projects with a combined capacity of 13,106 MW. The group targets to produce 3.422 billion kWh of electricity in 2010. (Vietnam Economic Times)
