Vietnam to Hold First Festival on Forestry Products Next March
Vietnam will organize a festival on forestry products, the first of its kind, in the central province of Binh Dinh from Mar 26-29 next year.
The festival will include a display of Vietnamese timber and woodwork, seminars on forestry products and trade promotion, a photo exhibition of forest production and a honoring ceremony for domestic firms in this sector.
To date, 125 firms, consulates and trade missions from different countries including Japan, France, the U.K, the Netherlands, Russia and China and international organizations like JETRO, WWF, SWITCH have registered to take part in the event.
Vietnam reaped $310 million from woodwork export in November, up 29.56% on year, resulting in $3.03 billion from woodwork exports in the eleven months of this year.
The U.S. remained the largest importer of Vietnamese woodwork with $1.1 billion during the period.
Local woodwork processing firms, however, have still almost ignored the domestic market which is said to be potential and dominated by products from European countries and Chinese low-quality products. (The People)
