Vietnam Firms Upbeat about Business Outlook in 2011: Grant Thornton

Up to 62% of Vietnamese enterprises are optimistic about the country’s economy in 2011, auditing and consultancy firm Grant Thornton International said.
 
This is much higher than that of 23% for companies all over the world and 50% for firms in the Asia-Pacific region, Grant Thornton said in a report released January 4.
 
Chile takes the lead in the global optimism index with 95% of respondents, followed by India with 93%, the Philippines with 87% and Switzerland with 85%.
 
Kent Atkinson, Grant Thornton Vietnam’s Director General, said the survey’s results showed that greater development has been seen in Asian and Latin American economies with high competitiveness and a rapid forecasted growth for 2011.
 
Although optimism for Vietnam’s economy this year dropped from the previous report, the outlook is still generally positive, he said.
 
Vietnam’s GDP increased by 6.7% in the context where the world economy facing instability after global recession. It saw 16 out of 21 socio-economic yearly targets fulfilled or exceeded. (Vietnamplus)
