38,000 Tonnes of Tea Exported in First Half
Vietnam's tea export industry is recovering seeing 38,000 tonnes exported in the first six months of this year, earning US$38 million in turnover. Russia, Japan and the US continued to be major markets for Vietnam's tea. Furthermore, Africa is sill considered a potential centre for trade promotion in the coming time.
In late June, the Vietnam Tea Association organised a trip to Morocco, a gateway to the African market, to explore the market and seek opportunities. The Vietnam Tea Corporation has invested US$200,000 in trade promotion activities.
Vietnam has suitable climatic and soil conditions for growing tea. It has an age-old tea growing tradition and the quality of Vietnam tea has been highly praised throughout the world. Vietnam has exported tea to 59 countries and territories. The country now has 610 producers and 170 enterprises involved in directly exporting tea.
