The fourth Danang International Firework Contest (DIFC 2011) will be held on the banks of the Han River from April 29th - 30th with the theme of “Sparkling Han River”. Danang city, once again will paint its sky with the typical images of Vietnam and Danang.
Unlike other firework contests being held from the beginning of this month all over the world, DIFC will take place for two nights with a variety of international standard firework displays. There are five groups participating in this year’s contest, including Jubilee (Great Britain), Hanwaha (South Korean), Panda Fireworks (China), Parente Fireworks A&C SNC (Italy) and Danang city - represents the host country Vietnam, which promises to bring about the unique displays for Vietnamese as well as international viewers.
The Vietnamese team will put on a show with the theme “Sparkling Han river” on background music by Ai Nghia Tran, which will last 21 minutes and be divided into 4 parts. This display theme is close to the nature, landscape and people in Danang city. The England team’s performance (Julibee Fireworks) will last 20 minutes with the theme of “Downstream with the history of Han river” and be started with the song “Age of Discovery.” This performance aims at reminding people that every river contains a long history and also water is a dispensable part of the life on this earth. Korean team (Hanwha) will perform on a combination of traditional and modern background music with the topic of “Han river and challenges.” The team from China (Panda Fireworks), with a mixture of lighting effects, will perform on the topic of “Downstream Han River.” This performance will last 21 minutes and 8 seconds in 5 parts with special images such as the waves, boats streaming down the river, the dawn and the combination of light effects in different levels. The Italian team, Parente Fireworks, will perform on the topic “The vitality of the river,” which describes the different characteristics of the river by the combination of music and fireworks in a space of a gently flowing river and an unexploited nature.
Although the contest will be held for only two nights, like previous DIFCs, according to Joe Gazzhal, the General Director of Global2000 International, the consulting agency holding the contest, this is a chance to attract a large number of tourists because they would see five performances in two nights. Meanwhile, at many other international firework contests, they cannot fully enjoy the performances because they are held on weekends over many weeks.
According to the Organization Committee, the organization process has been well prepared since the last month to ensure a secure DIFC for the teams participating in the contest, as well as for millions of people to achieve a bright outcome.
People’s Committee of the city also approved the plan of building a stand for viewers, proposed by Dong Duong Company. This stand consists of 2 parts: stand A at the main stage with more than 9,000 seats and stand B at the unused land of Olalani project with more than 16,000 seats.
To give viewers from all the corners of the world the chance to enjoy this contest, tickets will be sold at 3 places: Danang city, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. Besides that, units which have cruise ships are also allowed to sell tickets to view the displays from onboard, provided that they commit to security and quality conditions and the price will not be over VND 200,000 per person per night. The Command Committee of Border guards are in charge of locating the places to sell tickets for tourists on the list provided by registering units to Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
