Japan Shares Vietnam Expressway Management
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Transport (MOT) will jointly carry out a 2 year project to strengthen the Operation and Maintenance System for Expressway in Vietnam.
Under the Technical Cooperation Project, signed on May 25 in Hanoi, JICA will dispatch experts, provide equipment and organize training for Vietnamese personnel in Japan and in Vietnam. Specifically, the Japanese experts will help prepare principles, standards, manuals related to expressway operation and maintenance. They also share their expertise by carrying out On the Job Training for Vietnamese staff in expressway operation and maintenance organizations.
The main activities of the Project will be conducted in Hanoi and surrounding areas. JICA and MOT have chosen 3 pilot sections for the On the Job Training through trial basis operations, including Ring Road No.3 between National Highway 5 and Phap Van, Road Section between Phap Van and Cau Gie, and Expressway Section between Cau Gie and Ninh Binh.
The project is funded with a US$2.2 million grant from the Japanese Government and will start from mid 2011.
