Founded in 2002, Hop Thanh is a leading enterprise in manufacturing polyester fiber in Vietnam. At the moment, with two modern lines, Hop Thanh produces approximately 30 thousand tonnes of polyester products annually for domestic and foreign markets.
Making its own way
According to Mr Le Manh Thuy, Director of Hop Thanh Limited Company, in the beginning Hop Thanh mainly operated in trading building glass and high quality glass. Director Thuy saw that polyester fiber production was profitable while no enterprise was involved in it. He decided to study and research polyester fiber production in China. In early 2002, Director Le Manh Thuy initiated plans to build the first factory manufacturing polyester in Vietnam.
In operation procedure, Hop Thanh factory encountered many challenges. Many leading experts came but were not be able to handle the issues arising from the line. Thuy shared that the leap from theory to practice was too great. Maintaining quality control from the line was difficult, since the inputs are waste with no specific qualification, making it dependent on experts as well as workers’ operation. However, with determination to utilise the technology, from managers to the entire staff, finally the first line operated smoothly and produced first “made in Vietnam” polyester products.
Trust from customers
Domestic and foreign partners with demand for recycled fiber all come to Hop Thanh. “The two main factors bringing customers to Hop Thanh are its products’ quality and plentiful varieties,” said Director Thanh.
Hop Thanh has innovative designs to fully meet the customers’ demand, which cannot be done by all enterprises. Initially, Hop Thanh only produced minimal hollow fiber of 6D; however, at present, the company can manufacture small products such as hollow fiber of 2.5D and 4D for customers from Britain and Turkey.
Nevertheless, it’s not simple to gain such an achievement, and requires not only good technological machines but also qualified engineers and staff. At Hop Thanh, in technology transfer procedure, engineers had the chance to work directly with foreign experts from the beginning when installing line 1, which enabled them to totally master the technology. Besides, initiatives and technical innovation are encouraged and adopted, thereby increasing productivity and product quality. In 2007, Hop Thanh won the Vifotec prize for work of technical improvement in producing polyester fiber.
Always being ready to share difficulties and consult with customers; Hop Thanh regards the success of customers as their success. It also explains why many partners and customers have identified themselves and grown with Hop Thanh from their first orders until now.
In 2010, overcoming obstacles, Hop Thanh maintained stable business activities, greatly improved the living standards of its staff. The turnover in 2010 was over VND470 billion, or 131 percent of 2009. Hop Thanh fiber manufacturing brand has been asserted firmly in minds of customers and partners.
