A span of nearly 15 years of construction and development for Director Tran Dinh Hai and his Minh Dang Co, Ltd is marked not only with steady growth and profit, but also the presence of traffic works, irrigational systems and reservoirs which contribute to the prosperity of upland people.
Tran Dinh Hai, who is a returned border soldier, chose Ha Giang province to start up business. Perhaps, the sincerity and honesty of the land and people here caught his attention. It is hard to find any other more convincing reason for his choice of this extremely poor land. He said he could not forget the time when he and his colleagues had to carry bricks and sand on their backs to construction sites; he could not forget the sudden advent of flooding which could quickly sweep away all of their efforts and resources. Luckily, all his projects like roads, watering systems or reservoirs were finally completed. Poverty-stricken localities like Meo Vac, Quang Binh, Dong Van, Yen Minh and Quan Ba were sites for Minh Dang’s projects.
The company mainly specialises in traffic, irrigation and plumbing system construction in upland areas. Director Tran Dinh Hai is always busy with new projects as he deeply cares about their construction quality and progress. He said a leader must have very good governance skills to run a multi-business company, particularly relating to personnel matters. In recent years, Minh Dang is always highly appreciated by its peers for stable, rising growth, and good payroll policies. In 2010 alone, it paid nearly VND10 billion to the State Budget.
To better carry out its projects, Minh Dang has invested much in construction machines. Only in 2010, it spent nearly VND10 billion to buy new equipment such as excavators, shovels, bulldozers, pumps and other watering machines. In 2010 and 2011, it has handed over five irrigation works. It has also completed a clean water supply project for a low-lying village worth VND4 billion. Defining its staff as the decisive factor, the company always focuses on training and recruiting senior personnel like engineers and skilled workers, as well as providing in-house training and regular employment for local workers.
To secure sustained growth, the company has proposed many specific solutions like setting up joint venture material suppliers to ensure smooth material supply for its projects, keeping labour sanitation and safety, and encouraging dynamism and creativity among all staff. At present, Minh Dang is shifting its business operations into tourism and services. It is building a VND10 billion, 7-storey hotel in Ha Giang City, which is expected to be complete in June 2012. This hotel is a top-tier accommodation in Ha Giang.
Not only creating stable growth for his company, Tran Dinh Hai and his employees are actively participating in humanitarian and charitable activities. Every year, it provides a large sum of money for poor people and students in the province, Agent Orange victims, and flood victims. He always bears in mind that “Just do for the community and the community will be a place for business to develop. Each entrepreneur must have a heart in his job. When he works and lives with a truly kind heart, he and his will be repaid.”
