Japan Grants Vietnam JPY329 Mln to Develop Human Resource
Japan grants 329 million Japanese Yen (about US$4.06 million) to Vietnam for the Human Resource Development Scholarships (known as JDS program) in the period 2012-2015. The Exchange of Note on the Grant Aid was signed in Hanoi recently by Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Mr Yasuaki Tanizaki and the Minister of Education and Training Mr Pham Vu Luan, and it was followed up by a Grant Agreement signed between Mr TSUNO Motonori JICA Chief Representative and Mr Pham Chi Cuong, Vice Director of International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Education and Training.
The JDS Program, which has been implemented since 2000, targets young government officers with potential to play leadership roles in their specialties after return to each country. Under the JDS Program, young government officers of Vietnam are provided with opportunities for academic research on institutional building for growth promotion, transport/urban development, agriculture and rural development, environment, development of legal framework, and public administration reforms at well- known Japanese higher educational institutions such as Hitotsubashi University, Nagoya University, University of Tsukuba...
Up to now, nearly 300 young government officers of Vietnam have received the scholarships for studying master degrees in Japan.
Under the newly granted scholarship program, Vietnam will send 30 graduates for master training in Japan in 2012-2013. Application for the Program 2012-2013 will begin in August this year.
