The Project for Improvement of Equipment at the National Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology was officially inaugurated on August 15 in Hanoi.

The Project has been implemented for the past 18 months with US$5 million in non-refundable aid contributed by the Government and People of Japan. The project helps equip Vietnam’s leading hospital in taking care of mothers and children, with more than 100 types of modern equipment. The main beneficiaries are departments of Neonatal care, Delivery, Operation, Emergency and Imaging diagnosis. This new equipment has already been put into operation, contributing to the hospital’s effort to enhance medical services and provide better care to patients.

Mr Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice Minister of Health and also Director of NHOG, acknowledged the good sentiment that the Government and People of Japan extend to Vietnam through the project. He said, “The Japanese assistance is of special importance to our hospital as the project provides us with modern equipment, especially serving the Delivery, Neonatal and Examination Departments. With the modern equipment, our staff will have better working conditions, thus improving the treatment quality for mothers and children.”
