Vietnam Sets up Connectivity Coordinating Committee
The Government chief has decided to establish an ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Steering Committee, which is headed by the Minister of Planning and Investment, to speed up the realization of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC).
The Steering Committee will comprise two deputy heads who are the Deputy Ministers of Planning and Investment and Foreign Affairs.
In addition, the Committee will have other members, including the Deputy Ministers of Transport; Finance; Industry and Trade; Information and Communications; Cultural, Sports and Tourism; Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Education and Training, Natural Resources and Environment, Public Security and a Deputy Chairman of the Office of the Government.
The Committee is in charge of composing plans, working programs, supervising ministries, agencies and localities to fulfill strategies, action plans and projects within the framework of the MPAC and proposing mechanisms and policies for the realization of the MPAC.
In addition, the Committee will be responsible for coordinating with the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee, multilateral development banks, international and regional organizations to maximize all resources during the implementation process of MPAC.
Under the Prime Minister’s decision, the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are responsible for setting up two different working groups to assist the Committee.
