Vietnam Prioritises Southern Cement Projects
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung recently approved the Vietnam cement industry development plan for the 2011 - 2020 stage and orientation towards 2030. Accordingly, material sources for cement production projects must have sufficient reserves for at least 30 continuous years of production. By the end of 2015, all cement production facilities will use reverter furnace technologies.
Cement projects which produce over 2,500 tonnes of clinker per day will have to utilise exhaust fuels for power generation, except for cement production lines using industrial waste and other waste as fuel. Operational cement projects and plants which sign equipment supply contracts prior to August 29 must complete investment for gas utilisation for power production by 2015. Cement plants with daily processing capacity of 2,500 tonnes of clinker are encouraged to install equipment to utilise exhaust heat for power production.
The development plan also gives priority for cement projects deployed in the southern region and regions which have advantages in materials, industrial development and transport expansion.
