VNA, Jet Airways Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement
On October 12, 2011, Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Jet Airways of India signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation on the occasion of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang’s state visit to India. The agreement covers cooperation in commercial services, technique and training, paving the way for the opening of direct flights between Vietnam and India in the future.
The State-owned Vietnam Airlines is a flag carrier in Vietnam and the Mekong Delta subregion. Vietnam Airlines is operating 83 flight routes with 300 flights a day to 20 domestic airports and 26 international airports.
Vietnam Airlines became an official member of the global airline alliance, SkyTeam, in June 2010, becoming the first airlines in Southeast Asia to join the alliance.
Jet Airways and its wholly owned subsidiary, JetLite, are currently operating one of youngest and most modern plane fleet in the world, with an average age of 5.64 years. They have 116 aircrafts, including Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A330-200, Boeing 737-700/800/900, and ATR 72-500. Jet Airways is operating 620 flights a day to 80 domestic and international destinations.
