MDF Quang Tri is a MDF (medium-density fibreboard) wood processing plant affiliated with Mien Trung Corporation (Cosevco). In 2005, the factory was transformed into a joint stock company affiliated with the State-owned Vietnam Rubber Group. After six years of construction and development, the company has gradually asserted its position on the market. MDF products are not only sold in the domestic market but also exported to world markets. To date, the company’s products have been shipped to many countries like India, Japan, European nations and the United States.
Looking back on the history of Quang Tri MDF wood plant, Deputy Director Nguyen Van Cong said: “The company has experienced dramatic ups and downs, and the current position is accrued from effort, labour and creativity of all staff.” Previously, MDF had been present in Vietnam but the production level was far behind the world. The Quang Tri MDF plant was also lagging. However, the company reached a new status after it received French technologies, the most modern in Asia in its time.
In 2005 and 2006, the plant production was stagnant because of slow sales caused by weak finance, poorly managed production and backward technology. In 2007, the company was determined to renovate technology and corporate governance. In 2008 and 2009, the plant began to prosper.
Objectively, all companies encounter hardships when they start operations. And, MDF Quang Tri is no exception. At first, machines were not manoeuvred well and products were not standardised. The company started to accelerate in 2009 and losses accumulated in 2006 and 2007 were offset in 2009.
Deputy Director Nguyen Van Cong said: "That is the fruit of endless efforts of the entire company, especially the leaders who know to apply technologies to promote the operating capacity to the maximum.” Hence, the output always exceeds the target set by the Board of Management. In 2011, the company plans to turn out 65,000 tonnes of products, but output reached over 60,000 tonnes as of early October. Thus, the production may top 80,000 tonnes this year. Indeed, orders from customers are always higher than the operating capacity of the factory. Therefore, the company plans to expand operations to meet the demand.
Currently, to meet higher market demand, the company plans to expand the scope of processing the film for MDF, expected to go on-stream next month. The firm is also building an additive production facility for MDF wood to reduce its reliance on imports. Then, it can ensure a premium quality of its products.
With significant growth in all aspects, the company ensures a stable, high average income of VND5 million a month and applies all statutory employment policies for workers.
Not only focusing on production and business activities, the company is always interested in social development activities in the province and this move is highly appreciated by provincial leaders and people.
Never being satisfied with what it has made, MDF Quang Tri always strives for better products for consumers. That is also the commitment the company’s leaders and employees make to deserve the position of a leading MDF manufacturer in Vietnam.
