Equitisation of Foreign Invested Enterprises Experimented

The Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed the Prime Minister to transform the operation of six foreign invested enterprises (Taya, Interfoods, Ausnam, Taicera, Tungkang and Focal) into joint stock companies, according to Mr. Phan Huu Thang, Head of Foreign Investment Department. Another six companies will also be transformed at a later date.

Among the 12 enterprises applying for equitisation, four have capital of over US$10 million, four with US$5-10 million and four with capital under US$5 million. Ten of the enterprises are involved in the industrial and construction sectors and two in services and agriculture and forestry.

Mr. Dreepk Khanna, the director of the International Finance Company, said that most of the enterprises concerned have been operating for a long time in Vietnam and have a need to expand their investment. Once they are equitised they will have the chance to mobilise more capital for their operations as all of them are efficient in their business activities.
