IAEA Shares Communication Experience in Nuclear Power
The Atomic Energy Agency and the Electricity of Vietnam in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) held a training course entitled “Participation of stakeholders and communication issues for nuclear power programme.” The programme is part of the Technical Cooperation Project with IAEA, coded VIE/4/015 - Developing Nuclear Power Infrastructure.
This is one of important contents in developing nuclear power infrastructure in Vietnam, especially after the calamity occurred in Fukushima nuclear power facilities in Japan and when Vietnam stepped up the construction of nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan province. Experts will impart basic knowledge and skills in setting up communication plans, main elements and components of communication plans, communications principles, especially problem and risk management in nuclear power projects.
Minister of Science and Technology, Nguyen Quan, recently hosted a working meeting with Mr Tadahiro Matshushita, Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), to discuss cooperation in atomic energy, rare earth and universe development. Mr Tadahiro Matshushita confirmed Japan's determinations towards the construction of Space Centre and considered it a symbol for friendship cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
Minister Quan said Vietnam will cooperate closely with Japan to carry out the project with highest safety and efficiency. As regards rare earth project, the Ministry of Science and Technology assigned the Institute of Rare Radiation to coordinate with the Japanese side. He stressed the importance of environmental protection issues. With respect to Space Centre project, he added that Vietnam has spared a land lot in Hoa Lac High Tech Park, Hanoi for Japan.
