With its prestige and experience doing business with Chinese partners, Cat Khanh Co., Ltd has been named the subcontractor supplying all materials and building the road in Bid A7 of Noi Bai - Lao Cai Highway undertaken by Guangxi Road and Bridge Construction Co., Ltd (a member company of Guangxi New Development Group, China).
Bid A7 covers the road section passing through Van Ban, Bao Yen and Bao Thang districts of Lao Cai province. The Bid was kicked off on January 25, 2010 and scheduled for completion in 38 months. It consists of 18 bridges with a total length of 1,963 metres and many other auxiliary items. The Bid, with a total investment of VND1,600 billion (US$80 million), is an important chain for the entire highway project.
Mr Ngo Thanh Giang, Director of Cat Khanh Co., Ltd, said: The company is effectively carrying out the project. At the first phase, without electricity, the firm had to spend a lot of capital building power generators and lines for stone production. But, the company’s investment also helped surrounding people to access electric lights for the first time in their lives. After initial investment of VND30 billion for quarrying, we will inject another VND20 billion to reach the expected output. We have also coordinated with other companies to raise capital for the project.
Giang added that Noi Bai - Hanoi Highway is a large project invested by the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation (VEC). The construction and supervision are assumed by leading foreign companies which sublease local contractors for provision of materials, manpower, construction and installation. All these processes are put under close supervision, management, guidance and acceptance of foreign contractors. Therefore, Cat Khanh Co., Ltd always respects the principles of equality and honesty in cooperation with foreign partners. The company is always very careful when it signs a contract to avoid errors and omissions.
Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway is a key national project and an element in the Vietnam - China cooperation programme for construction and development of two corridors and one economic belt: Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong corridor, Nanning - Lang Son - Hanoi - Haiphong corridor, and Coast - Gulf of Tonkin economic belt. This highway is also part of a cooperation programme of six Mekong subregion countries, as it lays the groundwork for regional development. For Lao Cai province, after this project is completed, it will serve an important role in social and economic development.
