The Youth newspaper, GreenFeed Vietnam Corporation, in cooperation with the Farmer’s Association and Youth Union of Dong Nai province, on October 23 launched a ceremony to hand over support funds to 60 farmer households of Xuan Loc and Thong Nhat districts as part of the “Help farmers take the children to school” program.

This is part of the Youth newspaper’s “For a developed future” initiative. Sponsored by GreenFeed Vietnam Corporation, the program will assist farmer households that want to rely on husbandry business to lift themselves out of poverty and whose children are good at school, so that the young hopefuls can favorably further their education. The 60 households received in total VND700 million support money (VND10 million in cash and VND1,650,000 in GreenFeed trademark animal feeds apiece) and regular husbandry technical assistance. The households will use the interest-free loans to start raising pigs and chickens (building breeding facilities, buying feeds or breeds).
Also in this event, 53 children with outstanding schooling results from 60 farmer households were commended for their determination to overcome personal hardship.
By October 2011, the program has received funds of over VND2.8 billion in total, with 240 farmer households in four provinces of Long An, Binh Dinh, Hung Yen and Dong Dai provided with interest-free loans to develop household livelihood and help their children with outstanding and good results at school to promisingly continue their education. Noticeably, right from the outset of the 2011-2012 academic year, a scholarship granting event for children with excellent schooling results from 60 households in Long An was formally held.

In addition, two years into the program, GreenFeed will set aside 20 percent of the funds to reward farmer households with good business results and children doing well at school.
