"Vietnam Day in Sweden" Sponsored by Comvik International Vietnam AB
Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Comvik International Vietnam (CIV) launched the "Vietnam Day in Sweden" in an effort to promote Vietnamese culture, cuisine, tourism and investment opportunities to the Swedish people and business community.
This event is organised to fulfil the commitment of the Kinnevik group and Comvik International Vietnam made during last year's visit to Sweden by the Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Vu Khoan and the Swedish King and Queen's visit to Vietnam in February this year. This initiative has also received strong support from the Swedish embassy in Hanoi.
'On behalf of Comvik International Vietnam, I am honoured to have the opportunity to promote the cultural and business ties between the two nations. We shall work closely with the government of Vietnam to ensure that the 'Vietnam Day in Sweden' is organised successfully.' said Mr. Z.A Zaman, Chairman of Comvik International Vietnam AB
Scheduled to take place on November 8, the 'Vietnam Day in Sweden' will be held at the Stockholm City Hall where the prestigious Nobel Prize is awarded annually by His Majesty the King of Sweden. This event features a wide range of cultural activities such as a documentary film show, the auction of Vietnamese Paintings for charity, a Vietnamese cultural performance, a fashion show and a Vietnamese traditional food festival.
All the activities are especially designed to demonstrate the unique taste of Vietnam to the Swedish people. During the day, the government of Vietnam will be able to showcase opportunities in investment, trade, export and tourism to the Swedish business community. Potential Swedish investors will have a chance to learn first hand about the business opportunities available in Vietnam by participating in an investment seminar attended by high ranking Vietnamese officials.
"The government of Vietnam highly appreciates this initiative of the Kinnevik-Comvik group and regard it as an important contribution to improving bilateral relations between the two countries," said Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The BCC between CIV and VMS is known as the most successful BCC in Vietnam. Since 1995, thanks to the partnership between VMS and CIV, the MobiFone network has grown to become one of the largest mobile phone communication service networks in Vietnam with over one million subscribers. In 2002, the senior management of Comvik was awarded medals for their contributions to Vietnam's telecommunications sector, the first such award to be given to a foreign company.
Comvik International Vietnam was awarded the Golden Dragon Award by The Vietnam Economic Times recognising it as the best company in the field. The award was supported by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Ministry of Industry due to the group's outstanding style and products.
Currently Comvik is the largest Swedish investor in the fast growing and dynamic Vietnamese telecommunication sector.
