24 major Italian Winemakers from Tuscany will be in Vietnam from 7th to 9th November 2011, for a double event dedicated to the outstanding wines of their Region. The event, named “Tuscany – A Land of Wine” in order to emphasize the unique origin of the wines, will be held on 7th November in Hanoi and 9th November in Hochiminh City.

Following the success of the 2010 “Tasting Siena Wine Excellence”, the Italian Trade Commission – Trade Promotion Section of the Italian Embassy in Hochiminh City, together with Toscana Promozione and PromoSiena, organize this second edition, hosted by H.E. Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Angeloni and President of Siena Chamber of Commerce Massimo Guasconi. The events will offer local participants a chance to taste and understand more about premium wines in Tuscany, thanks to the presentation by renowned Italian sommelier Massimo Castellani. Business opportunities will also be discussed in the afternoon session of bilateral meetings with the 24 excellent wineries.

Moreover, 4 local participants (2 per venue) will be offered the opportunity to travel to Italy with full sponsorship, after a selection made by the Italian participants at the end of day of meetings. The Vietnamese companies will be invited to visit the “Buy Wine” event taking place next February 2012 in Florence, the beautiful capital of Tuscany Region.

Italian wine is becoming increasingly popular in Vietnam. Official statistics show that direct exports from Italy to Vietnam grew by over 28% in 2010, reaching 1,5 million USD. And we also know that an important share of wine exports into Vietnam coming from non-producing Countries is referred to Italian wines.

Italian wines date 4,000 years back and through the ages they have kept the same essential elements: the weather, which means long, sunny growing season; the nature of the soil; the environment, with altitude, natural woodlands and sometimes the influence of the sea, creating a perfect microclimate; the ability to force yields upward, aiming at quality rather than quantity in production; the love with which the vineyards have been tended for generations. The Tuscany wine estates participating at this event incorporate all those elements and have done so for centuries. But, for centuries, they have also been adding new factors: research and experimentation; innovative vinification techniques; organic farming; respect for the natural evolution of the wine.

The event is coming up as the main reference point for Italian wines in Vietnam and is essential for all local wine traders and importers.
