National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced to increase its domestic airfares from December 15, following the Ministry of Finance’s new price ceiling on domestic routes.

Accordingly, new prices are determined by 5 different distances with up to 20 per cent price rises for economic class and 5 percent for business class. Vietnam Airlines will increase by 15 per cent airfares on high-demand routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Da Nang and 20 per cent on other short routes.

The carrier will build up a flexible airfare system for domestic flights based on supply and demand to better serve its customers. In addition to new ceiling prices by the Ministry of Finance, it will offer some fares 50 percent lower than the ceiling prices, thus creating ten different price levels for domestic flights.
