The Prime Minister recently issued the official dispatch 4088/VPCP-VII asking the ministries of Police, Trade, Finance and Industry to inspect production and trading activities of the Vietnam Steel Corporation, steel plants, and steel trading enterprises to deal with recent steel price hikes that are blamed on speculation.
Distribution networks of steel plants and trading enterprises will be the focus of the inspection and the results will be reported to the government no later than September 15.
The price of steel on the Vietnamese market has risen over the last few months, damaging investment, construction and prices of other products despite many attempted solutions of the government to stabilise the price, noted the dispatch.
